Atlanta is found towards the southern Atlantic seacoast in Georgia on the Eastern part of USA. It is a modern metropolitan city with a lot of attractions and sites to offer to those who pay it a visit. The city neighbors Florida, and the Appalachian Mountains, which make it an excellent destination for a tour ride. So what attractions can tourists expect from this city?
The Stone Mountain State Park is known worldwide for its granite monolith, which is in fact the largest in the world. The park is found about 16 miles to the east of Atlanta. Its historic reputation is linked to with the civil war, a heritage that is replicated in a sculpture of three war generals that are curved into the monolith. Camping and lodging facilities are found here.
Atlanta is linked to many other European cities and even native ones with the Hartsville International airport. Again, the airport is found about ten kilometers to the southern part of the city. Transport services from the airport to the city downtown are either by taxi, shuttle services or train. Tourists can get more travel information and maps from the information counter at the airport.
The Metropolitan city is a beehive of business activity with many Multinational companies like Coca Cola and CNN having there offices located here. It also hosts the largest shopping mall in the southern USA, the Lennox Square Mall found in Buckhead. The mall has numerous boutiques, art galleries, currency exchange services and so on.
Entertainment that includes outdoor activities and nightlife activities are also found here in plenty throughout the year. Many people consider Buckland to be the heart of the city’s nightlife due to its rich history that can be traced all the way back to the 1800’s. Those who come here to quench their entertainment thirst can find a variety of amenities including a disco, a gay bar, a coffee house, Latin Music and so much more.
But perhaps the greatest aspect that Atlanta can be associated with is its modernhistorical attribute. Dr. Martin Luther King hailed from this particular city and people who travel for historical research purposes might find the Carter Center or The Martin Luther King National Historic Site very resourceful and intriguing as well. Other than that, it also has museums that include the Atlanta Cyclorama and Civil War Museum at the Grant Park area and the Southeastern Railway Museum in Duluth.
It is impossible to leave Atlanta without sampling some of the city’s fine delicacies. The Waffle House restaurant is very ideal for a breakfast menu of grits, bacon and eggs. There are also various barbecue and ‘soul food’ specialties of the Southeast for visitors to sample them out. ‘Soul food’ is made up of dishes that have plenty of chicken and pork. For vegetarians, the dishes may entail different styles of preparing various vegetables.
For sports lovers, the Six Flags trip is an event that many find very interesting. It includes over 100 rides, and remains open to everyone as from February to October. Other sporting events in Atlanta include football, baseball basketball among others.
